Peatsmoke and Company

£130.00

Semi-abstract original landscape painting in acrylic and collage.

A verdant landscape is suggested by strong blocked shapes which have been scraped through to reveal the layers beneath, reminiscent of long grasses. Torn pieces of collage in the foreground hint at a wall beyond which the wild open countryside awaits. Strips of snipped collage imply a pathway, both in the foreground and in the middle distance, leading the eye towards a tiny cottage, sweetly located in the shelter of some trees. In the far off distance, mountains hunker under roiling storm clouds.

The atmosphere is this scene is unsettled. The relative calm of the fields looks as though it may have recently weathered a storm, or else is just about to encounter one. The overall mood is one of peace, living at one with nature, in rhythm with the seasons.
